Analyzing Literary Elements in Miss Brill
Understanding how an author's choices enhance the reader's experience with a text help students become more critical readers and more eloquent writers. This task asks students to analyze key literary terms as they apply to Katherine Mansfield's short story "Miss Brill".
Essential Questions for Exploring Texts
This resource is used as diploma exam prep for ELA 30-1. In order to help students understand the big thematic ideas presented as critical analytical responses to texts, they explore how a variety of past diploma topics can be related to each and every text they have read throughout the course of the year. This encourages them to look at a number of thematic concepts, not just the ones examined during the unit of study.
Do I Dare
A personal performance assessment inspired by T. S. Eliot's poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock". Students are asked to examine their own lives as they prepare to leave high school and ask themselves what they dare to do.
