Flip/Pocket Calendar: Stoney Language
Learning new Languages is so important! Especially languages we are at risk of losing. I am blessed to teach with some fantastic Stoney Elders and incorporate the Stoney Language into my teaching daily. I have created this resource so you can too!
These Stoney Language Calendar will allow you to incorporate the Stoney Language in your classroom.
This resource includes calendar pieces for:
- The months of the year (Stoney/Direct Translation/English word - rhuya tawe/Eagle Moon/February)
- The days of the wee (Stoney/English word - aba wazi/Monday)
- Numerals for dates (1-31)
- Numerals for years (2022-2030 - with updates for future years)
- All pieces in B&W and Colour
- Ideas for how to use in your classroom
*Optimized to print on LEGAL paper*
Check out the Indigenous Languages section of my store for more Indigenous Language resources!
*Disclaimer: This resource contains a language Indigenous to North America. Stoney is a complex language with many different dialects, and as such spellings of words vary depending on the community, location, and even Elder you speak to.
The Cree spellings in this resource are from an Elder local to the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada region, in Treaty 6 Territory and are the spelling taught to students on local First Nations Reservations.
The spellings in this resource may not reflect the spellings you are familiar with, or that are used in your location.
